A Phlebotomy Technician training program prepares students for entry-level phlebotomy jobs by teaching blood collection techniques and patient care skills used in medical offices, laboratories, hospitals, and clinics.

Florida does not issue a state license for Phlebotomy Technicians. Graduates receive an academy-issued Phlebotomy Technician Certificate after completing the program and may use it when applying for phlebotomy positions in Florida medical settings.

Graduates who plan to work outside Florida should obtain a national certification, such as MedCA or NHA. The school certificate is required before taking a national certification exam. The academy offers national certification testing in English, Russian, or Spanish for an additional $200.

The curriculum totals 171 hours: 126 hours of online instruction and a 45-hour PHL101 hands-on component. Eight hands-on hours are required at the academy. Up to 37 additional clinical practice hours are optional and must be arranged independently by the student with a participating healthcare facility, subject to that facility’s approval and requirements.

The PHL101 hands-on component totals 45 hours: 8 required hours of in-school training with a doctor and up to 37 optional clinical practice hours arranged independently by the student with a participating laboratory, hospital, medical office, urgent care center, or other healthcare facility, subject to that facility’s approval and requirements.

PHL101 includes 8 required hours of hands-on training at the academy. Students may complete up to 37 optional clinical practice hours, but the academy does not guarantee or arrange placement. Students are responsible for finding a laboratory, hospital, medical office, urgent care center, or another healthcare facility willing to accept them, subject to that facility’s approval and requirements.

The academy can provide a list of locations that have accepted students in the past, but acceptance is not guaranteed. The academy will also provide the necessary school documentation for the participating healthcare facility.

The online coursework is available 24/7 and may be completed at the student’s own pace. The required 8-hour in-person training is offered only on scheduled academy class dates and requires advance registration; walk-in attendance is not available.

Students may separately complete up to 37 optional clinical practice hours. These hours must be arranged independently by the student with a participating healthcare facility and are subject to that facility’s approval and requirements. The academy provides the necessary school documentation, but placement is not guaranteed.

Regular tuition is $950. The current discounted tuition is $450. To enroll at the discounted rate, a $150 nonrefundable deposit is required to reserve a seat and receive access to the online coursework. The remaining $300 balance is due on the in-person training day.

The deposit may be transferred one time to the next scheduled class for a valid reason. If the student misses both the original date and the transferred date, the deposit is forfeited and a new deposit is required to register again.

Enrollment requires a valid photo ID.

Yes. We offer separate classes specifically for Spanish-speaking students.
